Brief Route Description:
Arrive in Buenos Aires, one of S. America's largest and most colorful cities. Most of the afternoon will be free to explore Buenos Aires, before boarding a luxury double decker bus departing at 7:00 p.m. from the Retiro bus station. Ride south to Puerto Madryn arriving around noon the following day.
Important Arrival Information:
To correlate travels with our trips in Futaleufú in the quickest and most efficient way, we recommend departing one's home country on Friday afternoon to arrive in Buenos Aires as early as possible on Friday morning. For assurance, it is advised to arrive in Buenos Aires at least three hours before the scheduled departure from the Retiro bus station.
Important Departure Information:
When departing through Argentina the luxury bus runs from Puerto Madryn to Buenos Aires and from there to one's home country. Leave at least three hours between the arrival at Retiro Bus Terminal and the flight home from Ezeiza. One or two hours can be lost by a late bus, so we recommend leaving ample time to get to Ezeiza International Airport from Retiro Bus Terminal.
Options are available to continue on to Esquel from Puerto Madryn for more adventures in the Futaleufu area. Simply make the trip from Esquel to Trevelin by bus or taxi, and Expediciones Chile will provide transportation across the border and into Futaleufu.
Important New Updates:
***Jan 1, 2010 Argentine Government installs Reciprocal visa fee. The rates are $131 USD - Americans $159 USD - Canadians; $60 USD - Australians . The Chilean government does the same when you fly into the international airport in Santiago. The good news is that when you cross into Chile at the Futaleufu crossing the Chilean government will not charge you for their visa fee. They Charge only if you fly into the Santiago international airport.
**** During summer months (Jan -March) Bariloche, Esquel and Trevelin are in a time zone one hour earlier than Buenos Aires. You may be confused by the flight times to Barilcohe. You gain one hour going west to Bariloche, Esquel and Trevelin. You will lose an hour going back to Buenos Aires. These areas of Argentina have the same time as Chile during these months.
