Day by Day:
Day 1: ANCUD - PUÑIHUIL - CASTRO
Reception at the bus terminal of Ancud, then we will drive west to visit the place of Puñihuil in the Pacific side of the main island. This is a group of islands that serve as breeding habitat for Magellanic and Humboldt Penguins as well as many other marine birds. Visit the colony by zodiacs. After our pic-nic lunch, we drive to Castro in the interior sea of the archipelago and arrival to a picturesque stilt house hostel. We'll have dinner in a nice sea front restaurant. (L,D)
Day 2: CASTRO - SEA KAYAK DALCAHUE CHANNEL - CASTRO
Morning transfer to the sea kayaking center near the cultural port of Dalcahue. Full day of sea kayaking paddling in Dalcahue channel, on the way we see great numbers of local seabirds including black-necked swans, three kinds of seagulls, oyster catchers, grebes. Then we continue across the Channel to Quinchao Island for a visit to the lovely San Xavier church and cemetery. Pic-nic lunch. For the rest of the afternoon, we visit various picturesque locations along the channel, until we finally return to the Sea Kayak center. In the evening we drive back to Castro. Dinner. Lodging in the hostel.(B,L,D)
Day 3: CASTR0 - SAN JUAN - TENAUN - MECHUQUE ISLAND
This morning we will drive to the picturesque fishing village of San Juan with the famous shipyards and wooden church. From here we will paddle north visiting sea side hamlets till we get to the nice town of Tenaun in order to catch a motorized vessel and cross to Mechuque in the little archipelago of Chauques. Dinner and lodging in a family house at this beautiful town. (B,L,D)
Day 4: MECHUQUE - AÑIHUE - TAUCOLON - VOIGUE
Today we start early for a full day of sea kayaking among the waterways and islands of Mechuque, Voigue, Añihue and Taucolon, visiting villages and churches as we go. We pay special attention to the traditional culture of this area, celebrated in the songs and dances of Chilean folklore. In particular, we watch for palafito stilt houses with brightly colored fishing boats tied up in their "basements". In the evening, we get back to Mechuque. Dinner and lodging in our guest house (B,L,D)
Day 5: MECHUQUE - TENAUN - COLO - AUCAR - QUEMCHI - ANCUD
We cross back to Tenaun in our vessel and drive through a beautiful coastal road in the interior sea of the main island, visiting cultural highlights and villages as Colo, Aucar, and Quemchi, before we get to Ancud in order to catch the bus back to Puerto Montt or Pto. Varas. (B,L)

The actual program for your custom trip will vary according to the desires and skill level of your group, weather, or other factors. If a certain part of your trip is not possible due to danger risks and weather extremes, our experienced guide staff will work with you to figure out the best possible option to substitute for the weather complications. Included: All transportation according to the itinerary, for round trip Ancud, vessel crossing to Mechuque Island, all meals from lunch on Day 1 to lunch on day 5, two nights in the stilt house hostel in Castro, two nights in the Mechuque guest house, services of bilingual expert guide, fully equipped fiberglass sea kayaks with spray skirts, paddles and accessories, regular bus ticket from Ancud back to Puerto Montt.
Not Included: Any type of insurance./Gratuities and personal extras as communication cost, laundry, meals , drinks and transportation out of program and other personal items.
